A trip down inQvation's memory lane. What did we learn in 2019?

2019 - what happened in inQvation?

As 2019 is coming to an end and 2020 is just around the corner (no shit, Sherlock!), we took some time to look back at the past year and all that has happened in inQvation. So now it’s time to celebrate our greatest moments and reflect on our challenges. What did we learn? What was our greatest success and biggest challenges? Did we get any wiser? Okay, first let’s take a quick look at what happened in 2019. Ready? Let’s go!

2019 was the year where we:

Okay, we could keep on dropping bullet points with events from 2019 – but we want it to be more personal. Therefore we’ve teamed up with two inQvators for a little talk about their 2019.

1 year, 2 inQvators, 5 questions

The team of inQvators has expanded a lot this year and if this blog post should focus on all of our family members and their 2019 it would be too long – and we don’t want that! Instead, we choose to talk with two inQvators: Mads Vad Kristensen, Head of Studio and Claus Zibrandtsen, CEO in inQvation.

We’ve asked them the same five questions about their 2019 – including a question about which soundtrack that describes their 2019 the best. Want to know which songs they choose – and why? We got you!

Polaroids of Claus Zibrandtsen and Mads Vad Kristensens - from inQvation's wall of fame

1. Okay, if you should pick three words that describe 2019 in the best way – which words would you choose? And can you (shortly) tell us why?

Mads: “Passion , purpose, impact”. I think the three words go wonderfully hand in hand, and they are important parts of why I am so grateful to work at inQvation; I get to do my best and to live it in my work every single day. And I love it!

Claus: Exciting, transformation and steep learning curve! When I look back on the time that have past in 2019, I’m just amazed of what the inQvation team have achieved. Exactly one year ago, inQvation was mostly an IoT Hub with an interest in investments. Now we are a Startup Development Firm, not only by saying it, but also by living it.

2. What was the best thing that happened in 2019? Workwise or personally – or both? You choose

Mads: Joining inQvation, hands down and getting the opportunity to work with this amazing team of inQvators.

Claus: I’m surrounded by people who live by our values and have the ambition to make a difference. Personally: I drove my race-car on Circuit de la Sarthe (Le Mans 24H).

3. What was the most challenging thing that happened?

Mads: When you are working in uncharted territory, chances are you will step on a mine or two along the way and things blow up. It is not the individual incident that is important but how you recover and learn to avoid those mines in the future.

Claus: When pushing that much in 2019, I sometimes lacked supplying information to my surroundings.

4. If you should choose one soundtrack describing your 2019 – which one would you choose?

Mads: That’s a tough one. I have always – and now I sound old – held “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)” by AC/DC from their Donnington 1991 performance in high regard – like a personal anthem. For something from this year it has to be “Deutschland” by Rammstein and especially the music video for it. It is – to me – the perfect embodiment of the three words that described my 2019: Passion, purpose and impact. Love ’em or hate ’em – they deliver on those three words, every single time.

Claus: Paradis (lige her) – Nik & Jay. 2019 has been a huge party, lots of good vibes and the idea of creating something completely unique.

5. Looking at the good happenings, joyful moments, mistakes and I-could-have-done-better situations – what did you learn this year?

Mads: I learned a lot. And as such the true value of always having a learning mindset and use those learnings to continuously striving to be better. In every single way.

Claus: I can always do better, every day is the journey of new learnings. Information and structure when growing is my key “can do better” pointers for me in 2020.

YES! 2019 was an(other) exciting year for inQvation and our inQvation family. We’re excited to see what 2020 will bring us. One thing is for sure – we will keep on working with our proven and not-so-secret recipe behind our success. Wait what? A recipe? YES! It’s just as simple as an original thought: work, meet, learn, share, repeat. And we will keep pushing to be better!

Thanks for a great 2019. See you next year. Until then HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you from all of us in inQvation.
